Our Mission

The Duke Center for Quantitative Living Systems (QLS) promotes Quantitative Biology at Duke. QLS is a community where researchers come together to teach and learn about quantitative approaches to analyze living systems, establish an exchange of emerging knowledge, and foster new interdisciplinary collaborations. We welcome researchers from a spectrum of disciplines including applied math, physics, chemistry, engineering, and biology, with an interest in solving problems at the intersection of these fields.

Core activities of the QLS are designed to support the mission of building and enriching the QLS community at Duke. A visiting Scholars program invites theorists to campus to run workshops and interact intensively with labs in the QLS. The trainee-run breakfast sessions provide opportunities for trainees to teach other skills, share knowledge, and transmit new tools. Super-group meetings will be supported amongst different research groups to foster new collaborative work among labs, with similar interests. In all our activities, we will work cooperatively with the Duke Center for Quantitative BioDesign.

The Center is committed to providing an equitable, diverse, and inclusive community for all participating faculty, staff, researchers, and students at all levels.
